  • An easier start with STIHL ErgoStart   ( 1 Articles )

Starting has never been easier. With the innovative STIHL ErgoStart, you can start STIHL power tools easily with little effort. A smooth pull with two fingers is sufficient, and you are ready to start work. Compared with conventional starting systems, the STIHL ErgoStart not only requires less effort: you can also pull the starter rope at 1/3 of the speed. The system also compensates for the unnecessary jerking which occurs during the compression strokes of the engine:

When using a conventional starting system, you have to overcome several pulses caused by the compression strokes. With the STIHL ErgoStart it is sufficient to pull the starter rope slowly and smoothly - the ErgoStart system takes care of the rest.

    Illustration to "Idle position …"
The starter is in the idle position. The spring is not tensioned and the starter rope is wound up on the drum.
    Illustration to "Smooth pull …"
A smooth pull on the starter rope tensions the spring against the compression resistance of the engine. The jerks are not transmitted to the rope.
Illustration to "Spring automatically transmits the stored energy …"
The spring automatically transmits the stored energy to the crankshaft, causing it to turn and ensuring reliable starting of the engine.

You can find brush cutters and chain saws with the STIHL ErgoStart system in the list of links at the top left of this page. Alternatively, you can ask your local STIHL dealer for further information.

Regardless of whether you pull the starter rope quickly or slowly - the engine starts easily, every time.
